I'd suggest the FFP rules contributed to them selling him to us.

£15m (or whatever) straight in the books as pure profit.

There was a good article about how Forest have benefitted from the FFP rule on home grown players, by signing players who had to be sold for FFP reasons (admittedly signed for big money) who maybe wouldn’t have been sold a couple of years ago.
