Deputies arrest three from Troy on drug charges
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office arrested three men from Troy, one of them for allegedly possessing and distributing cocaine and fentanyl and two others on a bench warrant. Deputies said Jesus Ramirez, 41, Tremel Gibson, 31, and Matthew Smarro, 34, are facing charges.
Deputies said they used a search warrant in their investigation of Ramirez's alleged drug dealing for a home on 6th Avenue in Troy. Smarro was arrested on a bench warrant for Troy and transferred to Troy Police Department's custody, while Gibson was arrested on a bench warrant for Cohoes and was taken to the Cohoes Police Department.
Charges for Ramirez
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a hallucinogen
Deputies said Ramirez has three prior felony convictions and remains in Rensselaer County Jail following his arraignment. He also received additional charges of introducing dangerous contraband into a prison and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
