Albany church hosting emergency holiday gift giveaway
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Victory Church in Albany is hosting an emergency holiday gift giveaway until 5 p.m. on Monday. Families in dire need of assistance can stop by the church on Quail Street for the last-minute toy drive.
With the holidays being a difficult time for anyone facing financial insecurity, organizers of the toy drive said families shouldn't have to choose between buying food or presents. The church hopes to ease the burden of those who are struggling.
Edward Vega is a church helper who said they are trying to do their best to help the community.
"I see a lot of people that are in need in the streets," Vega said. "There's a lot of homeless people, there's a lot of people that are addicted to drugs and everything, and we try to do the best we can to help them out in the future."
