College football playoffs offer exciting match-ups for the holidays
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- It is the holiday season and I am thankful that the college football playoffs are here.
Now, the opening-round matchups were non-competitive as Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas, and Ohio State all advanced with relative ease. Stop complaining about the 12-team playoffs, this is what we all wanted.
Yes, the games could have been better and maybe the selection committee learns a little something from this year that impacts the selection process next year and beyond.
The correct twelve teams earned their way into the playoffs even though it did not yield great opening-round games.
What we have now are fantastic match-ups on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Penn State against Boise State. Texas and Arizona State. Ohio State and Oregon and Notre Dame and Georgia.
You can legitimately make an argument that 6 teams have a chance to win the national championship. The games moving forward should be fantastic and they are all neutral site games.
Listen, I was disappointed by the lack of competitiveness this weekend. Sometimes, to make an omelet, you need to break a few eggs and this year will be a learning experience.
In the end, like Oregon and Notre Dame in the Championship game with the Ducks and Head Coach Dan Lanning winning the national title. Until next time New York, I'm Marc Malusis.
