Child-led toy drive delivers Christmas miracles to Montefiore Medical Center
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Everyone believes in the joy of Christmas miracles, PIX11's Nicole Johnson's son Parker Todd is a living miracle.
Todd has Sickle Cell Disease and is paying it forward to other children in the hospital during this holiday season.
Todd said, "it is my pleasure, someone did this for me when I was in the hospital." At birth Todd was diagnosed with the life threatening illness and spent many days, even months here at Montefiore Medical Center and one year he was admitted during the holiday.
Since then, he's been on a mission to motivate and put a smile on the faces of other children who are sick. We turned to our PIX11 News family to help start a toy drive, it started small years ago, but then grew.
Todd dropped off toys to community centers and homes of children in need on Monday, just two days before Christmas
Montefiore Medical Center opened its doors and allowed Todd to fill not only his own heart but the hearts of children who may spend Christmas there.
Dr. Kerry Morrone was happy to see Todd come back to the hospital and said it brings warmth to her own heart.
The staff at the hospital and patients received Todd with open arms and appreciation.
Todd thanked his PIX11 News family and supporters and hopes to continue the tradition for years to come.
