Rob Cross dumped out by Scott Williams in record-breaking finale of ‘best pre-Christmas darts night ever’
ROB CROSS suffered a shock early exit from the World Darts Championship on Monday following a 3-1 loss to Scott Williams.
The number five seed took the opening set but struggled to reach his best and quickly found himself 2-1 down.

“It’s so tough, because Rob is one of my closest friends,” he said.
“Neither of us were great tonight, but Rob missed doubles and gave me a chance, so when you get given opportunities, you’ve got to take it.
“I’m always confident, regardless of who I’m playing, but I’m just looking forward to having Christmas with the family now.”
The two players last met each other at the World Championship two years ago, when Cross managed a 3-1 victory in the same round.
But this time, Voltage finds himself out of the competition altogether before Christmas.
Williams will now face Ricardo Pietreczko in the third round.
Cross became the 14th seed to be knocked out of the World Championship by the second round – a new record.

In an earlier shock on Monday evening, world No6 Dave Chisnall crashed out at the hands of Ricky Evans in a thriller.
With the scores tied at 2-2, both men pulled out some amazing throws to leave the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The pressure saw Chisnall miscount his finish to leave Evans clinging on.
And ‘Rapid’ made sure to punish the mistake by sealing the final leg 6-5.
Sky Sports presenter Emma Paton said it was “one of the best pre-Christmas darts night ever.”
