A Madikeri court convicted villager PS Gopi for raping a minor and abetting her suicide, sentencing him to 10 years in prison. Gopi befriended and assaulted a 16-year-old girl in 2022, leading her to attempt suicide. She passed away in the hospital. The court also levied a Rs 5 lakh fine for the victim’s family.
