12/24/2024: Snow wraps up by midday
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
It's Christmas Eve, and a passing weather system brought accumulating snow overnight - be careful, most roads are at least a little slippery!
Lighter, on and off snow showers and flurries are expected through the rest of the morning. Conditions will improve by midday as the wintry weather ends. Otherwise, expect cool and mostly cloudy conditions with highs near freezing.
Tonight looks chilly, though it's nothing Santa Claus can't handle! Recent, cutting edge meteorological research has shown that winds can sometimes shift in the wake of his sleigh. As a result, we expect a light breeze blowing from the direction of the North Pole. Temperatures will fall into the low to mid teens for most, with single digits in the hills of New England and the Adirondacks.
It'll stay chilly from start to finish on Christmas Day, though skies will clear. With sunshine, and mainly calm conditions in the afternoon, it will be a manageable chill as temperatures rise into the upper 20's. Just dress warm if you're getting out there to try out any new toys!
Thursday and Friday look awfully chilly, with morning lows near 10 and afternoon highs near 30. Saturday will be a little more mild, with temperatures rising several degrees above freezing in the Afternoon.
Even warmer for Sunday and Monday, with highs at or just above the 40 degree mark. That means the next big storm system coming through will bring mostly rain.
