'We need Greenland!' CNN conservative sparks clash over Trump's 'amazing idea'
Donald Trump has raised eyebrows by once again suggesting the U.S. should buy Greenland — and CNN's Scott Jennings applauded that as "an amazing idea."
The president-elect has talked about taking control of the autonomous Danish territory in the past, and he's also recently suggested taking back the Panama Canal and joked about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau being the "governor" of the “Great State of Canada."
"Yes, we need Greenland," Jennings said. "Greenland is an amazing thing to have. It's like, do you ever play Monopoly? You know, like, the first row of properties, like, they're cheap. You need those, those are vital properties. I am for Greenland. I wanted him to do it before, I want him to do it now, and I am personally and on television applying to be the military governor of Greenland if, in fact, we do take control of it.
"This is an amazing idea and I know everybody is laughing about it, but if he accomplishes this in four years, it will be a great legacy piece for Donald Trump."
Democratic strategist Maria Cardona said Trump's remarks about annexing other countries' territories were almost too preposterous to comment on.

"Well, I certainly agree that we should take him seriously, that he wants to do this — it doesn't make it a good idea or a sane idea," Cardona said. "I mean, pass go, collect $200 – who knows?
"The fact of the matter is, is that we can't take the Panama Canal just by saying we want to take the Panama Canal. It doesn't belong to us, and so maybe Trump should crack a book, read the law, look at history, try to understand what actually happened not just 25 years ago, but in 1977 and 100 years ago, when the the construction of the Panama Canal started. It doesn't belong to us, and so just by saying it doesn't make it so, it doesn't make it a good idea."
