Liverpool ace admits they targeted Tottenham player in 6-3 rout
One Liverpool star, who played all 90 minutes in the 6-3 win over Tottenham, has made an interesting confession about his side’s game plan on Sunday.
Liverpool teach Tottenham a harsh lesson
It is an evening to forget for Ange Postecoglou‘s men, who were second-best throughout the 90 minutes, with the Reds controlling the game and ruthlessly punishing the home side in the final third.
Tottenham never really looked in the game and struggled to build any sort of momentum, giving the ball away repeatedly as they tried to build out from the back.
It turns out that Arne Slot’s men came into the game with a clear game plan on who to target.
Ryan Gravenberch admits Liverpool targeted Spurs defender
Gravenberch, who played in the number six role and mopped up impressively in front of the back four, has revealed that the away side wanted one Spurs man to have the ball.
The Dutchman indicated that the Reds had identified Radu Dragusin as the weak link in possession and thus tried to get Spurs to build up from the right.
The 22-year-old told LFC TV after the 6-3 win: “We had a really good game plan. We wanted to keep them on the right side and press the right-sided centre-back.”
Radu Dragusin was relatively tidy on the ball
A lot has been made of Dragusin’s weakness in possession, but the Romanian has improved that part of his game over the last couple of months.
While he is certainly no Cristian Romero, whose passing ability gives Tottenham a huge advantage, the Romanian has not made too many mistakes in possession.
While he did make a couple of errors against the Reds, he generally handled the ball well and made some decent decisions.
