Cardinal Dolan to join opening prayer at President-elect Trump's inauguration
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York, will join the opening prayer during President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration in January, he announced on PIX11 Morning News on Christmas Eve.
"The president was kind enough to ask me to do the opening prayer," Dolan said. "He asked me to do the one in 2016 too, so he asked me this time."
Trump's inauguration will be held on Jan. 20, 2025. Amazon and Meta have each donated $1 million to the event, and world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, have all been invited.
Dolan also spoke about Trump's assassination attempt, the midnight Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral and the message he wants to drive home this Christmas.
