Vinod Kambli health news: Former cricketer spikes FEVER in hospital, Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde pledges…

Former India cricket star Vinod Kambli’s health took a turn for the worse on Tuesday night as he gets treatment at Akruti Hospital in Thane. According to information received from the hospital, Kambli has been shifted to the ICU of the private hospital after spiking a fever.

The 52-year-old former Mumbai southpaw is undergoing treatment for a severe urinary tract infection at Akruti Hospital near Bhiwandi, where he was admitted on Saturday (December 21), said Dr Vivek Trivedi, who heads the medical team overseeing his care.

Doctors had initially planned an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) for Kambli but have postponed the procedure due to his fever. The MRI was recommended after previous examinations revealed blood clots in his brain, Dr Trivedi explained. Kambli is expected to be moved out of the ICU within the next one to two days and could be discharged in about four days, he added.

Four days ago, Kambli’s condition was critical due to an extreme urinary infection that led to pus accumulation in his bladder, which was removed upon his admission. Dr Trivedi noted that remaining at home could have worsened his condition, as Kambli’s blood pressure was fluctuating when he arrived at the hospital. “His condition will be closely monitored for the next 24 hours and a decision taken on shifting him out of the ICU,” Dr Trivedi was quoted as saying by PTI news agency.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Shrikant Shinde Foundation, run by his MP’s son, have extended support to Kambli. Acting on Eknath Shinde’s instructions, his Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Mangesh Chiwte, visited the hospital to check on Kambli’s health and ensure he receives optimal care.

An official statement from the Deputy CM’s office in Thane confirmed that Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde has announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for Kambli, to be provided through the Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation next week. Shrikant Shinde also assured further support to Kambli and his family during this challenging time.

Kambli expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Eknath Shinde and Shrikant Shinde for their timely assistance and compassion. He also conveyed his desire to personally meet the Deputy CM to thank him. According to the official statement, Eknath Shinde and his son are expected to visit Kambli at the hospital soon.
