MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) – Two people were slashed inside Grand Central Terminal on Christmas Eve, according to the NYPD.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. near the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 lines. A 26-year-old woman was slashed in her neck and a 42-year-old man was slashed in the wrist, police said.

The slashing happened after an emergency brake was pulled on a No. 5 train, according to MTA police. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jason Sargeant, was accused of leaving the train car and attacking the two victims unprovoked, MTA police said.

Sources said a fight broke out between Sargeant and the man who was slashed on the subway platform.

The victims were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. Sargeant was taken into custody after an MTA officer noticed he was acting "erratically," the agency's police department said.

Police recovered a knife from Sargeant after he was arrested. He was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and disorderly conduct.
