ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Friday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says it will be chilly this Friday like it was on Thursday with highs in the upper 20s.
32 people were displaced by a fire in Clifton Park on Christmas morning. Also, there was a fire on Sheridan Avenue in Albany on Thursday. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Friday.
1. 32 people displaced after fire in Clifton Park
A fire at FoxRun Apartments displaced 32 residents on Christmas morning. No life-threatening injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation, but we learned it was an electrical fire.
2. Crews battle fire on Sheridan Ave in Albany
Firefighters battled a fire that spread to two single-family homes on the 300 block of Sheridan Avenue. Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky.
3. New details on Schenectady HS screening process
The Schenectady City School District has released new details regarding its weapons screening systems at the high school. The new weapon screening system and bag scanners are being installed on January 2 and 3.
4. Stewart’s slowly reintroducing tap-to-pay
Stewart’s Shops is slowly reintroducing the tap-to-pay option to stores, per Stewart’s Shops spokesperson Robin Cooper. About half of the stores already have it back.
5. Troy collecting real Christmas trees to recycle
Troy’s Quality of Life Action crews will be collecting real Christmas trees from residences to recycle. Residents can place their real trees on the curb during their regular collection day between January 2 and January 13.
