Billionaire business tycoon Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in India and across all of Asia, and it stands to reason that he and his family settle for nothing but the very best in everything, including mundane daily essentials like milk, which most of us consume without giving a second thought to where it came from.
However, unlike the common folk, the Ambani family consumes milk from a specially-reared Dutch cow breed, the Holstein-Friesian cows from Netherlands.
According to a report by the Times of India (TOI), the Ambanis consume the milk from Holstein-Friesian cows reared at the Bhagyalakshmi Dairy, a 35-acre dairy farm in Pune where over 3,000 cows are reared and milked. The high breed Holstein-Friesian cows are given RO water to drink, and rest on specially-imported rubber-coated mattresses, the report said.
Why Ambani family consume milk from Holstein-Friesian cows
As per dieticians, the Holstein-Friesian cows produce highly nutritious milk which is rich in both A1 and A2 beta casein protein, making it a popular choice for health enthusiasts. The milk of this Dutch cow breed is also rich in macronutrients, micronutrients, essential fats and carbohydrates, and is also a good source of calcium and vitamin D, which helps in bone and teeth health.
Its has also been proven that the butterfat or milkfat levels of the milk from Holstein-Friesian cows is slightly lower than other breeds, ranging between 3.6% to 3.8%.
About Holstein-Friesian cows
The Holstein-Friesian cow is high-yield cow breed from the Netherlands, which is regarded as the world’s highest milk yielding cow. These cows feature a distinctive black and white colour pattern, while some also have red and white or blue and white colouring. A healthy Holstein-Friesian calf weighs about 50 kg at birth, while an adult cow can weigh up to 750 kg.
A Holstein-Friesian cow gives around 25 liters of milk per day and can yield up to 9,500 liters of milk in a year.
