Near-record warmth today, elevated severe threat on Saturday
The severe threat is over for Acadiana this Friday and most shower and thunderstorm activity has ended as well. Near record high temperatures are in the forecast today as we climb into the upper 70s to low 80s this afternoon under partly sunny skies. Only a few showers are possible for the rest of the day. Lows tonight will return into the mid to upper 60s.
Stay weather aware on Saturday as the severe weather threat will be greater for our area compared to last night. The setup on Saturday afternoon and evening is more conducive to produce damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail. Much of Acadiana could be in the Level 3 Risk out of 5 on Saturday. Scattered storms are possible during the afternoon followed by a line of storms as a cold front sweeps through southwest Louisiana. The higher threat for severe weather on Saturday will occur between 5:00 pm to Midnight.
