Seven DUI arrests made over Christmas holiday by Kansas state troopers
TOPEKA (KSNT) - State troopers issued hundreds of warnings for speeding and arrested seven drivers for driving under the influence over the Christmas holiday this year.
The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) announced on social media that its troopers had a busy Christmas holiday ensuring that state highways are safe from drivers who are breaking the law. KHP troopers entered the Christmas holiday reporting period at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and ended it at midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
One person died in a crash during this reporting period in Doniphan County. The KHP released the following statistics for the 2024 Christmas holiday:
- DUI arrests - seven.
- Speeding citations - 227.
- Speeding warnings - 309.
- Safety belt adult citations - 14.
- Safety belt adult warnings - seven.
- Safety belt teen citations - none.
- Safety belt teen warnings - two.
- Child restraint citations - eight.
- Motorist assists - 218.
