Hudson residents asked to conserve water due to leaks

HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Residents in the city of Hudson have been asked to conserve water as the Department of Public Works (DPW) is looking for leaks in the system. According to Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson, the city's water tank is dropping at a high rate.

Residents were first advised to conserve water on Thursday while DPW searched for breaks in the water line. As of Friday, Johnson said DPW found several leaks, including in an abandoned building. Officials have also shut off the water where other leaks have been found.

Johnson said this happens when water pipes freeze and burst in unoccupied and vacant homes. Residents are asked to conserve water usage until all issues have been addressed.
