AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The city of Hutto announced on Friday that it will be moving from stage 2 to stage 1 water conservation efforts, which will go into effect immediately. The transition comes as water supply conditions have improved, the city said.
The city said stage 1 water conservation is voluntary and focused on reducing outdoor water use.
The stage 1 guidelines set by the city are:
Industrial, commercial, and institutional customers are asked to water outdoors only on Mondays and Fridays voluntarily.
Even-numbered residential addresses are asked to water outdoors only on Sundays and Thursdays voluntarily.
Odd-numbered residential addresses are asked to water outdoors only on Saturdays and Tuesdays voluntarily.
Outdoor watering should occur on designated days before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m.
“Outdoor watering” is using automatic irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers.
All water customers are encouraged to practice water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.
Although the city is moving to stage 1, the city said residents and businesses should continue to be mindful of their water usage. You can find more details on how stage 1 water conservation differs from stage 2 on the city's website.
