Patriots Defender Hopes Changes Will Be Made At Season’s End

FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo might have tried to lessen the impact, but Keion White did not attempt to walk back his much-publicized comments.

“Something’s gotta change,” White told MassLive’s Karen Guregian last week in a story that hinted at frustration from the second-year defender and how he was being utilized. “That’s the way I feel at this point.”

White felt the same way after the Patriots suffered an embarrassing 40-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

He hopes changes are coming.

“I mean, I hope so. If changes aren’t made, then what are we doing?” White said in the Patriots locker room. “The NFL is a production-based business so if we’re not doing anything to change our production, which is loss, what are we doing?”

What kind of changes should be made?

“It’s not for me to decide,” White said. “First and foremost, I’m changing me. Change how I play the game.”

When asked if there was pressure to play well in Week 18 to save coaching jobs, White deflected. Based on how he answered other questions head-on and his deflection of that one, it would be fair to think White isn’t concerned about that.

“I think you should play well every game,” White said. “That’s the bottom line at the end of the day. Are we doing it right now? No, so at the end of the day, something needs to change.”

Chances are changes are just one week away.
