One hospitalized, 3 firefighters injured after Vancouver downed power line incident

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A downed power line in front of a Vancouver home resulted in multiple fires, injured three firefighters and left one person hospitalized Friday night.

Just after 9 p.m., crews responded to 616 Ash Street after hearing a fallen power line started several spot fires, including an RV fire.

When they arrived on scene, firefighters reported the downed power line, as well as a victim unable to move and calling for help.

While trying to reach the victim, officials said three firefighters got electric shocks from the highly charged ground.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

The neighborhood's power supply was also shut off so crews could extinguish the spot fires, as well as another fire found in the main house.

The three firefighters who were shocked were taken to the hospital for treatment, officials said.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating the incident.
