ATHENS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A 54-year-old man from Nelsonville has been indicted and arrested after allegedly killing a dog with a pellet gun.

Scott McCall was arrested in Athens County on Dec. 21 for charges of cruelty to companion animals and tampering with evidence, according to a news release from Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn.

McCall had a superseding indictment after being accused of shooting a dog with a pellet gun that led to the dog's death. He is alleged to have also tied items to the dog and thrown the body into a pond. He was arraigned this week and received a $100,000 bond.

Among the conditions include no 10% allowed to post bond and to have no animals in his custody. He is scheduled for a status conference hearing on Jan. 16.

McCall's maximum sentence combining the two charges is four years in prison.
