(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Kings have parted ways with head coach Mike Brown, league sources confirmed to FOX40.com on Friday afternoon.
The news comes as the Kings have lost five games in a row, with the most recent game including a 19-point blown lead to the Detroit Pistons at home on Thursday.
Brown had just signed a 3-year extension with the team in June of this year. This also comes amid trade rumors for Kings star De'Aaron Fox.
Sources confirmed to FOX40.com that assistant coach Doug Christie will lead the team in the interim.

The Kings are currently 12th in the NBA’s Western Conference standings.
Brown joined the Kings in 2022 and in his first season led the team in overcoming its 16-year playoff drought. He unanimously won coach of the year after the end of that season.
Brown’s record with the Kings was 107-88.
Before joining the Kings, he was the lead assistant coach with the Warriors for six years, where he won three NBA championships.
He had also been the head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers (during two separate stints) and the Lakers, and had been an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Wizards.
