Adaptive grant

Saratoga’s College of Adaptive Arts recently received a $100,000 grant from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

The grant for the higher education program for people with disabilities will fund upgrades like new computers, ergonomic furniture for wheelchair users and student transportation. The grant funding will also support College of Adaptive Arts’ workforce development program.

“Fostering a love of lifelong learning for our students is our primary focus at the school,” said executive director Nicole Kim in a statement. “With this additional support, our instructors will have the tools and technology to teach our students. We don’t have to worry if things will work; we can focus on each student and their individual needs.”

Montalvo’s literary series

Montalvo Arts Center is kicking off a new literary arts series with an event on Jan. 22 titled “Salt and Poetry.”

The two-hour event will feature readings by poets Jessica Cohn, Nancy L. Meyer, Hilary King and Stephanie Pressman, as well as a guided creative writing workshop.

Tickets for the event are available for $10, and at no cost for students. Visit montalvoarts.org/experience/programs-event-calendar for more information.
