Angelina Jolie Is Reportedly ‘Very Excited’ About Helping Her Kids Do One Thing After Finalizing Divorce From Ex Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie is moving on after her divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt was finalized after a long and grueling eight-year legal battle. Now, she is reportedly using her hard-won freedom to help her six kids with Pitt do one thing that she’s “very excited” about.
Sources told In Touch Weekly that the Maleficent star is focused on helping her kids in their chosen careers, now that they are all grown up. “Angelina’s very aware of the potential her kids have, she has no doubt they’re going to do great things,” the insider told the outlet. “That being said, she’s never pushed them into anything, the last thing she wants is to see them flounder or be forced to do something they’re not passionate about, but she is carefully guiding their careers and setting them up, step by step.”
The source also gave details on how Jolie is helping each of her kids, like 23-year-old Maddox, who recently landed a job on his mom’s upcoming film, Stitches. “Maddox is the perfect example, he’s worked behind the scenes on a lot of her projects and been her assistant in so many aspects and now he’s the third-assistant director on her next film,” the insider dished. “He’s learning from the ground up, so that eventually, he’ll be ready to direct big feature films.”
Pax, 21, “is on the same path” as his older brother, according to the insider. “He’s got a huge interest in film and at the moment is looking to become a director of photography,” they said.
All this learning has had an unintentional effect on Maddox and Pax, according to the proud mom. When they helped as production assistants on set of Jolie’s biopic Maria, they saw a new side of their mom. “The character [Callas] has a lot of pain and they’ve of course seen me go through a lot of things, but they hadn’t experienced me expressing a lot of the pain that usually a parent hides from a child,” Jolie told BBC this month.
“So they were there to witness some of that, but then we would hug or they would bring me cups of tea,” she added. How sweet is that?
The Oscar winner is focused on helping her daughter Zahara, 19, as well. “Angelina is nurturing Zahara’s dreams with just as much intention,” the source told In Touch. They added that the Spelman College student is “interested in politics and international relations, which of course thrills Angelina to no end.”
“With the younger kids, she’s just as hands on,” the source continued, adding that 16-year-old Vivienne “is passionate about theatre so Angelina took that and ran with it by coproducing The Outsiders on Broadway with her, so she’d be able to learn the process alongside her.” “That was an extraordinary opportunity and not something the average theatre kid gets to experience,” they added.
“Now that Knox [16] and Shiloh [18] are getting more comfortable in the spotlight, the sky’s the limit for them, too,” the insider told the outlet. And rather than just setting them up with Hollywood connections, Jolie reportedly “wants to be there helping them learn” every step of the way.
“Angelina will do whatever it takes to help launch their careers,” the source continued, “as far as she’s concerned they’re the next generation. She’s very excited about all they will accomplish with her help.”
With that being said, we likely won’t see any of Jolie and Pitt’s kids on the big screen. Jolie told Good Morning America in November that “none” of her private kids “want to be in front of the camera.”
“They are quite private,” she said, noting how Shiloh in particular is “extremely private.”
Jolie told Vogue in 2023 about her kids, “They’re better than me, because you want your children to be. Of course I’m the mother, and hopefully that safe place for them and that stability. But I’m also the one that they laugh at — and I see them taking over so many different aspects of our family.”
