A 57-year-old man from Karkala fell victim to a scam after receiving a call from someone posing as a Mumbai Crime Branch official. The caller falsely accused him of fraud and demanded money transfers for verification. Overall, the victim transferred Rs 8.9 lakh to the scammers.
