New Orleans driver who mowed down dozens, killing 10, had ISIS flag on trailer: officials
A Texas man who drove into a crowded New Orleans street, killing 10 and injuring dozens of others, was in a pickup truck that had an ISIS flag on the hitch, Federal officials said in an update Wednesday afternoon.
Officials identified the driver as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, and said they do not believe he acted alone in the attack early Wednesday on Bourbon Street. Two officials told CNN that the suspect had previously served in the U.S. military.
Jabbar got out of the vehicle and shot at law enforcement agents, who returned fire, killing him, Athea Duncan, special agent at the FBI, told reporters at a news conference. Two officers were wounded in the shootout and were taken to hospitals.

The suspect was driving a Ford pickup truck and an ISIS flag was found on the trailer hitch, officials said. Investigators were working to identify a potential affiliation with a terrorist organization.
Additionally, weapons and explosives were found in the truck as well as in the French quarter, Duncan said, adding that the attack is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
"We don’t feel he was working alone," she said.
Latoya Cantrell, the mayor of New Orleans, told reporters she and other city officials expressed their deepest sympathies to the victims and their families.
Their priority, she said, continues to be to ensure victims on Bourbon Street will be serviced and moved as soon as possible.
