'They’re going to be bullied': AOC and internet blast label for new generation of babies
Jan. 1 will mark the start of a new generation of babies: Gen Beta.
The start of the new year will mark the end of Generation Alpha, which are generally said to have been born in the early 2010s, and the beginning of a new generation, according to media reports. Anybody born from 2025 through 2039 will belong to the Beta generation, USA Today reported.
But not all are fans of the new age group's name – which has drawn criticism from some over social media.
“Hmm can we workshop the name please?” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wrote to her followers on Bluesky. “They’re going to be bullied by the skibidi kids.”

“I’m sorry but it is just empirically funny that kids born starting tomorrow will be ‘Generation Beta,’” Business Insiders’ Katie Notopoulos said in her own Bluesky post.
“A self-proclaimed alpha male on Twitter once called me a beta for riding a bike,” researcher and University of Utah professor Alessandro Rigolon quipped to his social media followers on Bluesky. “Let’s hope he’s right and generation beta rides bikes in huge numbers.”
According to expert predictions, babies born in 2025 and later will grow up "deeply integrated" with AI, and some will live to see the 22nd century, NBC News reported.
