Gwen Stefani celebrated New Year’s Eve very differently than she did last year. This year, she spent time with Blake Shelton and her children at the couple’s ranch in Oklahoma — and she made sure to share the eventful day with her Instagram followers.
The 55-year-old pop star chronicled the sweet, final moments of 2024, sharing clips on her Instagram Story with Shelton and her 10-year-old son Apollo and “the last sunset of the whole 2024.” (You can see the clips here.) For anyone confused as to how Shelton was in Oklahoma and on ABC’s Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest from his Ole Red bar in Las Vegas at the same time, his performance was pre-taped ahead of the live broadcast.
It was a demonstration of family unity after last year’s very separate holiday. In December 2023, Stefani and Shelton booked events in different cities for New Year’s Eve, raising concern amongst fans that their marriage was in trouble. Shelton performed in Nashville while Stefani was in Las Vegas.
It’s funny because I was going to be at his show and then Vegas called and wanted me to be in Vegas. Last year I did Vegas, and I was kind of like, ‘remind me never to do Vegas again,’” she told Access Hollywood in December 2023. “And then I was like… I’m going to do it. If you’re going to be working, then I’m going to be working. So, I’m just going to fly in and out. It’s going to be awesome. I’m looking forward to it.”
The couple then spent the first month of the year refuting the breakup rumors. The gossip eventually led them to release a song together, “Purple Irises,” which revealed their deep connection. The chorus to the song spoke of Shelton and Stefani realizing the importance of their love: “No, I never knew a love like this.”
In July, an Us Weekly insider described the dynamic duo as “the quintessential opposites-attract type of couple,” who found each other after “dark divorces.” Stefani joined The Voice in 2014 and her spark with Shelton was immediate — for them, “their connection was the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Stefani has been open about the rumors about their marriage, telling Nylon in April 2024, “When you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us. You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship—I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something. It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is…”
It’s going to be a happy 2025 for Shelton and Stefani — their love is impenetrable!
