Take these tunnels to save money on congestion pricing tolls

0

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – If you take the right route into New York City, you could get some money back on congestion pricing tolls.

Drivers with valid E-ZPasses will get $1.50 or $3 back on their toll price if they cross into Manhattan via certain tunnels.

The discount is only offered during peak hours, between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends. The crossing credits are not offered overnight.

After passing through the tunnel, a $1.50 or $3 credit will be applied to the driver’s E-ZPass account. So, for a driver coming into the city via the Holland Tunnel, the $9 peak toll price will become $6.

They'll start as soon as congestion pricing begins on Jan. 5. Motorcyclists will get crossing credits up to $1.50 and small trucks and charter trucks up to $7.20.

Here’s where drivers can get discounts on congestion pricing tolls:

  • Lincoln Tunnel: $3 credit on entrance
  • Holland Tunnel: $3 credit on entrance
  • Queens-Midtown Tunnel: $1.50 each way; $3 for drivers using the tunnel twice in a day.
  • Hugh L. Carey Tunnel: $1.50 each way; $3 for drivers using the tunnel twice in a day.
