Congestion pricing is legally locked in limbo, NJ lawmakers argue

0

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – New Jersey lawmakers, including Rep. Josh Gottheimer, are holding a news conference on Thursday to reaffirm the state's legal fight over congestion pricing.

The toll is set to take effect in New York City on Sunday. Cars entering Manhattan below 60th Street will be charged $9 between the hours of 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays.

A federal judge in New Jersey declined to issue an injunction on Monday, which would have definitively paused the plan, after deciding the MTA took the necessary steps to implement it.

Opponents, including Gottheimer, said the toll legally remains locked in limbo. The MTA, on the other hand, insisted the judge's decision has no impact on the Jan. 5 rollout.

The event will be held on the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge at 11:30 a.m.
