Prince Louis Was His Adorably Impish Self at the Royal Family’s Holiday Celebration — & Got One of His Favorite Treats
If you were keeping a close eye on Prince Louis this holiday season, you might have noticed that the young royal seemed … off. The normally silly 6-year-old looked uncharacteristically somber and serious at both the “Together at Christmas” Carol Service and during the royal family’s Christmas morning walk to church.
We were worried that perhaps he wasn’t feeling well or had gotten a stern talking to given his previous antics — or maybe, sadly, is just growing out of his tendency toward shenanigans. But, according to a new report from The Sun, the cheeky child had everyone cracking up during the Christmas morning service. During the sermon, Rev. Canon Paul Williams asked Prince Louis to help demonstrate how you open a Terry’s chocolate orange. First, he said, “You have to tap it and unwrap it” before ultimately telling the young Prince of Wales to “just drop it.”
It was reported that well-wishers who were listening to the sermon via speakers then heard a loud bang as the candy dropped to the floor. This was “greeted by peals of laughter.” And yes, there’s definitely a dad joke right there about “[chocolate orange] peels” of laughter, but we’ll let it slide.
Earlier in the service, the clergymen asked if any of the kids in attendance had received sweets for Christmas. Prince Louis audibly replied, “Marshmallows!” The kiddo is known for having a sweet tooth, and the fluffy treat is among his favorites.
During the Big Help Out — a day of volunteering following King Charles III’s coronation in 2023 — Prince Louis and his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte were seen happily toasting (and eating!) marshmallows.
Now that the royal family has rung in the new year, royal author Ingrid Seward spoke to Hello! about what she thinks 2025 will look like for the Waleses. In light of all the turmoil of 2024 — including mom Kate Middleton’s shocking cancer diagnosis — Seward believes Middleton and Prince William will want to make this year extra special for their three kids.
“Kate will be wanting to spoil them a bit, because it’s very frightening for children when their parents are that ill, so I think they will be up for a few treats this year,” she said.
“I think William and Kate might take the children skiing during the Easter holidays and will probably be planning a big summer holiday, because as far as we know they didn’t go anywhere last year,” she continued.
And who knows, maybe they’ll throw some smashed chocolate oranges and marshmallows in the mix too! Yum!
