Letters: Carl DeMaio’s revealing op-ed about how the crooked Assembly really works

We voters all need to read the article “Assembly members taught how to duck accountability” by Carl DeMaio in Sunday, Dec. 22 Opinion section.

This knowledge is essential to voters to assure the honest operation of our democracy.

A peak behind closed doors

I commend Assembly member Chris DeMaio for speaking about what is really going on behind closed doors, however most if us had at least an inkling that politicians pretty much do as they please and are accountable to the highest bidder. And it isn’t just in the Assembly. His proposed reforms should be for all branches of goverment, state and federal. The biggest problem I see with his reform contract is the same people skirting the law are the same ones who will kill this bill too.

DeMaio’s message must be spread

Carl DeMaio’s article on how Sacramento works in Sunday’s opinion section is a Christmas present for all Californians. The truth he tells about corrupt activities contaminating our politics for decades must be changed for California’s good. Lobbyists and special interest groups have no place in government for the people and should be prosecuted for keeping the status quo of decline in the Golden State. It would be great if Carl DeMaio could spread his findings through popular podcasts and social media to the younger generation, who do not read print news.
