Australian authorities searching for victim of suspected fatal shark attack

CANBERRA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- An emergency search is underway for a surfer who authorities believe was fatally attacked by a shark off the coast of South Australia (SA).

Police and emergency services were called to Granites Beach -- over 470 km northwest of the state capital of Adelaide -- shortly after 7 p.m. local time on Thursday following reports of a surfer being taken by a shark.
