Nearly all of Puerto Rico was without power on New Year's Eve
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: A massive blackout plunged nearly all of Puerto Rico into darkness early on New Year's Eve, leaving more than 1.3 million customers without power.
Officials warned that complete restoration could take up to two days.
"It had to be on the 31st of December!" lamented Manuel, a San Juan resident celebrating his birthday, as he stood outside a grocery store. "There is no happiness."
