I found a gorgeous sofa worth £1400 for just £250 in a little-known furniture shop – I won’t buy full-priced items again
IT’S an exciting time when you can finally afford to move out and start dreaming about your grand interior design plans.
That is, until you find out how much a sofa is going to cost you.
That’s why the internet is full of tips and tricks on how to make your old sofa look alive again, using all sorts of unusual hacks.
Which is all very well if you have one already – but if you’re purchasing your very first sofa, you have to face the commitment of the initial spend.
Luckily, one thrifty TikTok user has posted a video of a little-known furniture shop selling gorgeous high-quality sofas for a fraction of their normal price.
TikTokker @yourboujeebudgetbabe posted a video captioned ‘What’s in the Next outlet?’
She’d travelled to the Next outlet store in Croydon to browse the bargain stock.
In the video, she showed viewers around the outlet store, telling them: “A £1000 sofa for £250? I can only be in the Next outlet.
“I am on the hunt for a new sofa, so of course I needed to check out here, and they did have some good things.”
She panned the camera to a selection of gorgeous sofas – one in an eye-catching floral print and another in a beautiful moss green.
The labels on the sofa revealed the jaw-dropping savings, with the stunning floral option down from £1,375 to just £250.
Another soft grey velvet four-seater sofa was down from £1,375 to just £400.
While a similar grey two-seater was a steal at just £200.
There were designs to suit all people, although the selection of stock varies so you’ll need to head in with an open mind and bit of good luck.
The thrifty bargain hunter also commented on the fact that some of the items looked a little too pre-loved for her liking, saying some looked ‘very sat-on’.
“I’ve got a rug from here before and it was completely new, wrapped up.
“If you’re not bothered, at say even getting a second hand sofa, then definitely take a look.
“The next outlet also has other furniture, you just get lucky with what you can find.”
She then went on to show a variety of chic storage units and draws, along with some rugs and luxury-looking bar stools.
Viewers in the comments were keen to get their hands on one of the bargain sofas, with one writing: “I need the floral sofa!”
Another person testified to the quality of the Next sofas, writing: “Next are honestly the best for sofas.
“Mine is 7 years old and is immaculate and I have 2 children.”
Another viewer was ahead of the game, saying: “I bought one from the outlet [and] it’s the best thing I have ever bought!”
How to make the most of the Next sale
THESE tips from a Next employee can help you make sure you bag the best bargains when the sale launches.
- Familiarise yourself with the stock – check in store and online to see what items you might fancy, that means you’ll be able to act fast once prices start dropping.
- Check online – often the sale launches online before stores open so go digital to get the best bargains.
- Consider the VIP scheme – if you have a credit account you can get access to the sale before the general public.
- Choose the right store – smaller outlets are likely to be less rammed, so you may have less competition for deals.
- Shop late in the day – around two hours before closing, staff start replenishing stock for the next day, so this is a great time to hit the stores.
- Look at ticket codes – if you’re in a Next keep an eye out for black dots on tickets; chances are that means an item is going to be discounted, so you’re better off waiting till the price drops.
- Homeware and women’s clothing sells fastest – so you might want to get to stores first thing for these items.
