Cohoes man arrested on felony firearm charges
COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Cohoes Police reported that a man was arrested following a traffic stop on Wednesday. Lamont Holmes, 46, of Cohoes, is facing numerous charges.
On January 1 around 2:18 a.m., patrol officers pulled over a Nissan Altima for multiple alleged vehicle and traffic law violations. Police said that the driver, identified as Holmes, had a suspended license and was reportedly found with a loaded semiautomatic handgun, nine grams of cocaine, and around three grams of fentanyl.
Holmes was taken into custody at the scene. He now faces the following charges:
- Second-degree criminal possession of weapon - loaded firearm
- Second-degree criminal use of a firearm
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Tampering with physical evidence
- Third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
Holmes was arraigned at Cohoes City Court before being remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
