Manchester United face a daunting Premier League challenge this Sunday as they travel to Anfield to take on a red-hot Liverpool side.

Manager Ruben Amorim may make bold changes in the team after three straight defeats in the league.

Lisandro Martinez could be dropped to the bench after an underwhelming first half of the season.

The Argentina international seemed an ideal candidate for the left centre-back role in the 3-4-3 formation.

However, he has failed to impress with his defending in large spaces. Leny Yoro could replace him against Liverpool.

Martinez has made mistakes which led to goals against Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Yoro has mainly played in the right centre-back position but featured on the opposite side for the final 30 minutes against the Magpies.

He was faultless with his ball distribution, completing all of his 28 passes. Yoro nearly scored, but his header narrowly missed the target.

United fans had to be patient as his competitive debut was delayed by a pre-season injury. Since returning in early December, the teenager has featured six times in the Premier League.

Amorim prefers a left-footed defender in the left centre-back position.

Jonny Evans is a direct replacement for Martinez. However, it would be a tall order for the 37-year-old to contain world-class star Mohamed Salah.

He is in breathtaking form and Liverpool’s most potent attacking threat.

Amorim may need to adjust his usual preference and field Yoro on the left side despite him being a right-footer.
