TV footage showed him hunker down with his right arm extended over his top tube.
The 33-year-old could first be seen struggling to raise his limb before resting it on his bike saddle to realign his shoulder.
He then thrusts his body-weight downwards against his frame to reset the misplaced joint.
Riders, who were forced to pick up their bikes amid the muddy field, ran past him as he worked on his body in the hard shoulder.
A stunned Eurosport commentator asked: “Did he just pop his shoulder back in?”
Van der Haar, who finished 10th, then bravely got back on his bike to continue the mud-caked ride.
The whole procedure took the cyclocross rider just 10 seconds to perform.

After the hour long race, Van der Haar said: “It took a really long time to get it back in. I also crashed, so it really wasn’t my day.”
But it’s not the first time Van der Haar has been spotted using his bike to help pop his shoulder during a competition.
Last season, the Dutchman had a similar incident at Superprestige Niel.
