Poughkeepsie man charged with attempted murder
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- On Friday night, a Poughkeepsie man was arrested after city police received calls for shots fired. David Smith-Daye, 39, faces multiple felony charges.
According to police, dispatchers received multiple calls reporting shots fired near Flannery Avenue and the Westbound Arterial around 7:15 p.m. When police arrived, no victims were located but an area canvass led to the discovery of shell casings and damage to an occupied home which reportedly was caused by gunfire.
During an investigation, police said the incident was related to an earlier incident and identified Smith-Daye as the suspect. Smith-Daye was later located on the 500 block of Main Street and taken into custody.
He was charged with attempted murder, strangulation in the second degree and reckless endangerment in the first degree. According to police, he was held pending arraignment and additional charges are possible.
