Schenectady Co. to hold Martin Luther King Jr. Day concert
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady County Human Rights Commission (SCHRC) will be hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance concert on Jan. 19. The program will include live music by Albany Voices of Pride and spoken word performances.
“The Schenectady County Human Rights Commission invites the community to celebrate Dr. King’s vision of unity, justice, and equality,” SCHRC executive director Arthur Butler said in a press release.
The theme of the event, “Begin with the End in Mind: Building Community Within the County," will center the civil rights movement's historical roots of tackling injustice and inspiring change. The SCHRC hopes the program will drive Schenectady County residents to take action in their own communities.
The concert will kick off at 3 p.m. at the Rotterdam Community Center, located at 705 Curry Road. Attendance is free.
