Hudson Crossing Park awarded grant for accessibility upgrades

SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Hudson Crossing Park will be improving its accessibility features after receiving a grant from the Common Roots Foundation, the facility announced on Monday. The upgrades will aim to make the park more inclusive and enjoyable for those with mobility challenges and other disabilities.

The funding, which totals over $1,245, will go towards signage improvements around Hudson Crossing Park. In the parking lot, the facility plans to install accessible parking signs to meet the needs of visitors who may have difficulty navigating the area.

Throughout the park’s trails, the facility also plans to add 22 durable, laser-cut QR codes on the educational signs. These codes will guide visitors, regardless of their level of sight, to online content about the region’s history.

The information accessed through the QR codes will also be translated into different languages, starting with Spanish. Raised and easy-to-feel, the plaques will replace the current sticker-based QR codes. The project has an estimated completion date of April 1, according to the facility.
