SeeClickFix app restored in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany's SeeClickFix app is back online after the common council approved a measure to change the city's prior written notice law. The new law says complaints must be mailed or hand delivered to the city's corporation council to count as prior written notice.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said the app should be used for non-emergency issues such as small potholes or illegal garbage dumping.
The app was temporarily taken down in December after the state's highest court ruled that the app did count as prior written notice. It stemmed from a lawsuit that claimed the city should be held liable for damage caused by bumps and potholes in the road.
The mayor said the ruling opened the door for other lawsuits and that could have cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
