Granville CSD holding mid-year vote on Wednesday
GRANVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Granville Central School District will be holding a mid-year vote on two savings accounts on Wednesday. The board is asking Granville voters for permission to create two separate savings accounts.
One account would be for electric buses, called the "Bus Purchase Reserve Fund." It would be used to save money specifically to comply with the state's requirement to switch to electric buses by 2035, so the district is trying to prepare for the significant cost this will have.
The other account would be called the "Capital Reserve Fund" and it will be for general building repairs and unexpected emergencies. The district wants to set aside up to $5 million, including interest and investment earnings, over the next five years to accommodate these situations.
The vote will be in the Granville High School gym from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
