Former Model Reveals 'Metamorphosis' After Breast Implant Removal
Former model Adrianne Curry, who skyrocketed to fame in the aughts after winning the first season of America's Next Top Model in 2003, has opened up about her grueling wellness journey after removing her breast implants.
The 42-year old took to Instagram on Monday to share her story five years after having her implants removed, which she says led to a "total metamorphosis" of her body. Curry said that during that first difficult year, she "wept nonstop" due to losing 90 percent of her natural breasts to necrosis, but refused to opt for a fat transfer procedure.
"I wasn't willing to risk my health anymore for vanity," she explained in the post, in which she appears to look healthy and fit in a green sports bra and black athletic leggings. "I had a crash course in being humbled and laid bare. My husband had to cut out all my stitches, due to our remote living and the weather. I was brought to my knees in humility and came through the fire of my vanity dying."
Curry continued, noting that it took a full two years for her breasts to settle and "look human." She also said that her husband, voice actor Matthew Rhode, was her "rock" throughout the ordeal and was unbothered by her "frankentitties."
"I am happy and healthy, and I wouldn't wish plastic surgery on my WORST enemy. It did nothing to ease my body dysmorphia and only gave me years of suffering," she added. Be OK with who and what you are. In my case, with a lot LESS of what I was."
After winning Top Model, Curry went on to have a successful modeling career, featured in magazines such as Stuff, Maxim, and Playboy, as well as appearing in various ad campaigns and runway shows for brands including Lucky, Ed Hardy, and Von Dutch. In 2005, she appeared on fourth season of VH1's The Surreal Life and married her costar, Brady Bunch actor Christopher Knight, with whom she starred in a spinoff series My Fair Brady.
The couple separated in 2011 and later divorced, and in 2018 she eloped with Rhode in Montana's Glacier National Park. The two have since relocated to Whitefish, MO, where she now runs her own lifestyle blog—far from Hollywood and its aggressive beauty standards.
