Two Dead Bodies Were Found on a JetBlue Plane in Florida
On Monday night, two bodies were found in the landing-gear compartment of a JetBlue flight that had taken off from New York earlier in the evening and landed in Fort Lauderdale at 11:10 p.m. According to a statement from the airline, they were discovered during a routine post-flight maintenance assessment, and Broward County police say they were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
As of Tuesday, an investigation is underway to determine the identities of the individuals and how they may have accessed the compartment. Though these areas are known to be hiding spaces for stowaways, it’s not clear whether that was the case for the people found Monday night. Law-enforcement officials say the bodies, which are both male, were badly decomposed, but they plan to perform autopsies to determine the cause of death.
“This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred,” JetBlue said in a statement.
