Vermont sued over law asking firms to pay for climate change damage

MONTPELIER, Vermont: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Petroleum Institute (API) have filed a federal lawsuit against Vermont over its groundbreaking law that holds fossil fuel companies accountable for climate-related damages.

The law, enacted last year, makes Vermont the first state to require companies to pay for decades of climate change costs.

The suit seeks to block the law's enforcemen
