Partnership aims to support caregivers ahead of CDPAP transition deadline

0

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New resources are being offered to home healthcare workers ahead of the spring when changes to the New York State's Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) will take effect.

In September, Gov. Kathy Hochul awarded a $9 billion contract to Public Partnership LLC (PPL) to oversee the program, which is responsible for paying caregivers. The announcement was met with pushback from advocates who said the changes could make it difficult for people to access the services they need.

The official switchover is set for April 1, but the state is taking some steps to address concerns before then. Hochul announced on Tuesday that 11 independent living centers would be partnering with PPL to serve as facilitators for CDPAP caregivers who must now register with the company prior to the April 1 deadline.

The independent living centers have locations across the state. Visit the PPL website to find one near you or call 1-833-247-5346.
