He might be a Police Academy graduate, but that doesn’t mean he can’t help firefighters out, too. As a brush fire spread in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, actor Steve Guttenberg stopped on a smoky street to ask local news station KTLA 5 if he could make an “important announcement.” “This is not a parking lot. We really need people to move their cars,” Guttenberg said in the live interview. “If you leave your car behind, leave the key in there so a guy like me can move your car so that these fire trucks can get up there.” The actor, who lives in the area, explained that he had been walking up Palisades Drive as far as he could, trying to move vehicles and clear a path for responding fire crews. (Hey, he’s definitely got experience parking cars.) Guttenberg said he has friends who can’t evacuate as ordered because of the traffic on the street. “It’s really important for people to help each other,” he added. “It’s really important for everybody to band together. And don’t worry about your personal property … just get your loved ones and get out.”
