ASW Conversations: Being a professional pivoter, with Autumn Lamb
It takes a lot to open yourself up when opportunity knocks. For Autumn Lamb, however, she always opens the door.
In this episode of Auto Service World Conversations, the marketing manager for GSP Americas discusses her journey into the aftermarket and all the amazing people, groups and experiences she’s uncovered.
She’s a major proponent of mentorship and building connections through the industry — she’s part of groups like Women in Auto Care and the Young Auto Care Networking Group. So when the opportunity comes along for her to take part in something, she says yes.
Because even though it feels like a lot of work and the commitment level can be big, it’s all worth it in the end.
“And if I’m not saying yes to things, I’m not challenging myself; or I’m not allowing myself to grow in ways that I didn’t think I was going to grow,” she said. “Without taking that first step outside your comfort zone, you can’t see the other side.”
Her advice to young people in the industry is simple: Don’t be afraid to fail to try something new, especially something you want to give a shot.
“Don’t let the failure stop you from doing something that you want to do. One of the things is, I think we can all get to be in our heads a lot. We think, ‘Oh, what is someone going to think of me? Or what is this person going to do,” she said.
